"We are proud to announce this new program, which will enable new and existing developers to create next-generation mobile apps and unique user experiences," said Kai Oistamo, executive vice president, Nokia Corp. "The partnership will allow developers to ideate and monetize business opportunities globally, via both Windows Phone Marketplace and Nokia Store."

"An essential part of Aalto University's mission is to strengthen Finland's competitiveness," said Tuula Teeri, president of Aalto University. "We are pleased to host this initiative, which concretely boosts utilization of new knowledge and skills in creation of new entrepreneurial ventures."

"The people and ideas we work with hail from all corners of the world, and our partnership with Microsoft and Nokia will further strengthen our global network. This program will provide a unique opportunity to turn application ideas into real business with the support of world-class partners and coaches."

"Within our student community, we have a strong mission to boost entrepreneurship and to create more startups," said Teemu Tapanila, a board member of the Aalto Entrepreneurship Society and leader of the Windows Phone Aalto community. ANZ Partners with Innovyz to Launch Small Business Accelerator Program - YAHOO!

ANZ, in partnership with Innovyz, has recently launched the 'ANZ Innovyz START Program', a three month intensive accelerator program aimed at assisting prospective and existing small business owners to develop and grow their businesses for success.

Melbourne, Victoria (PRWEB) March 14, 2012

Start ups, early stage small businesses or those with innovative ideas are encouraged to apply. Applications are open until 20 April 2012. To apply, go to http://www.innovyzstart.com/.

The ANZ Innovyz START program is a member of the Global Accelerator Network and is modelled on TechStars, the US mentor-driven seed stage investment program which has created some of the world's most successful start-up businesses.

The ANZ Innovyz START program offers participants the unique opportunity to be mentored by global specialists in entrepreneurship and innovation, including world renowned expert, Dr Jana Matthews.

Commenting on ANZ's partnership with Innovyz, ANZ General Manager for Small Business, Nick Reade said: "Our support for this program forms part of ANZ's commitment to the Australian small business sector. We're also a strong supporter of the start up segment, having an approval rate of around 80 per cent for ANZ start up loan applications.

"The Australian small business sector contributes almost half of Australia's private sector jobs, and while many are very successful, there are some which are having a tough time at present, and the sector continues to need investment and support.

"This program is about fostering growth and innovation in small business, and accelerating the development of start-up companies who really need that initial leg-up to get going.

"Whether you're a new small business, or just someone with a great innovative idea, it's about having the right support, mentoring and skills to get off the ground. The ANZ Innovyz START program is all about creating a launch pad for these people by giving them the expertise and funding to grow and commercialise their business," Mr Reade said.

The program commences on 28 May 2012 and will require 10 selected companies to reside in Adelaide for three months. The companies will be mentored by successful global entrepreneurs, be given the tools and programs to help them identify target markets, develop business plans and create strategies for growth. On the final day of the program they will then present to potential investors to seek funding.

ANZ has also launched The ANZ Small Business Hub' LinkedIn group which provides an interactive and inclusive community for small businesses to connect, share ideas, build profiles and open doors to new opportunities. To become a member of ANZ's Small Business Hub community, go to LinkedIn.

Franchise Centered Program Offers Business Opportunity for Entrepreneurs and Corporate Refugees Seeking New Opportunities - 24-7PressRelease.com

BETHESDA, MD, March 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nothing in life is guaranteed, of course. But after this type of preparation: 11 volumes and 1000 pages, 13 weeks of mentoring and coaching, days of intense coursework, a business owner who is opening a franchise knows as much as possible to ensure the success of an investment. The end result is a franchise system that continues growing and succeeding four decades after the first office was opened.

"Our training program is so basic it is almost redundant but we have an almost zero franchise failure rate because of it," says David Banfield, president of the alternative financing firm The Interface Financial Group. "Our long time franchise owners train and guide the new folks coming into our system so our new franchise owners have everything needed to be successful."

Banfield reports many long-term unemployed workers as well as entrepreneurs looking to own their own business are contacting him to inquire about franchise opportunities. Banfield says these prospective owners have heard IFG's training program and the company's low franchise failure rate. In addition, IFG franchises are inexpensive to open, can be run out of a house and provides a career that is not only entrepreneurial but also flexible.
IFG franchisees provide short-term working capital to small and medium sized businesses through invoice discounting. IFG's service allows a company to use their unpaid invoices to accelerate their cash flow and meet current financial obligations. Clients can be provided with access to instant capital within 2 -4 business days. The service is transactional, allowing businesses to use it as often as they need it. This easy and fast form of short term financing offers small business owners the opportunity to access cash quickly without having to wait for their outstanding invoices to be paid. IFG's service is in high demand in today's economy because many small businesses are struggling with cash flow issues to meet payroll or add inventory but do not qualify for a traditional bank loan.

DARYL'S STORY
Daryl Turko worked in the oil and gas industry for 15 years until he was laid off. He explored various opportunities through an outplacement service and finally settled on buying an IFG franchise. 15 years later, Turko carries just a handful of clients in a very manageable portfolio. Turko says his leads first came from contacts mostly in the banking arena but many more are now coming through referrals from existing clients.

"IFG promised to provide all the training and support I would need and they've delivered," says Turko. "I'm my own boss, I work out of my house, and I've been able to adjust my schedule through the years to fit my family.

IFG celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and is consistently ranked one of the top franchises among Entrepreneur magazine.

Ten-week program gives entrepreneurs a business crash course - Courier-Journal

Alex Frommeyer and his two partners in Beam Technologies have developed several dental-health products, including a toothbrush paired with a smartphone app that monitors daily brushing and, if you want, sends reports to your dentist.

But besides bright ideas, young high-tech entrepreneurs like Frommeyer, 24, need business training to get their inventions to market quickly.

Frommeyer got a crash course in entrepreneurship through the Kauffman FastTrac TechVenture program, offered by two Louisville business-development organizations ? Nucleus, an initiative of the University of Louisville Foundation, and InnovateLTC, a Louisville center for long-term-care innovation.

Over a 10-week period last spring, he and about 15 other entrepreneurs with startup companies met downtown one night a week to learn from experienced business operators, venture capitalists, business lawyers and others.

They received individual coaching and mentoring, refined their companies? business plans, made valuable contacts, compared notes with their peers, and honed their ?elevator speech? ? a two-minute pitch aimed at possible investors.

Besides education, they met professionals whom in some cases they later hired to provide valuable patenting help or accounting services, or even found angel investors to put money into their companies.

?The connections that you have an opportunity to make are incredible,? said Frommeyer, CEO of Beam.

So was the advice, he said. For example, his FastTrac coach suggested that instead of contracting with a manufacturer to produce one of Beam?s products ? then trying to sell it themselves ? Frommeyer and his partners should consider a licensing deal in which the manufacturer would pay for rights to make and sell the product. Beam would avoid risk and wouldn?t need a sales force.

That ?really redirected the entire business plan, because we decided we should commercialize the product in a completely different way,? Frommeyer said.

Nucleus and InnovateLTC are about to hold their third session of Kauffman FastTrac classes, a program of the entrepreneurship-focused Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City.

Entrepreneurs from 25 startups have graduated from the program, said Vickie Yates Brown, CEO of Nucleus. She said the next two series of classes will include 10 military veterans whose tuition will be paid by a grant from the Obama administration to help veterans start businesses.

Alicia Heazlitt, market research manager for InnovateLTC, said her organization and Nucleus began talking about establishing a new local program for entrepreneurs not long after InnovateLTC was created in 2010. She said they set out to find an offering that would ?really help them go to market quicker, and really arm them with the right information.?

They settled on the Kauffman program, and Nucleus and Innovate LTC employees underwent training to become FastTrac facilitators.

In return for tuition ? $895 per person, or $400 for the second and third person from the same startup ? FastTrac attendees meet and learn from a roster of volunteer speakers and business coaches from fields such as finance, law and marketing.

They include well-known Louisville business names such as venture capitalist Bob Saunders; serial entrepreneur Kent Oyler, who has co-founded 18 business ventures; and Mayor Greg Fischer, a former businessman who co-invented the SerVend ice and beverage dispenser.

?Every week, it?s just sort of a Who?s Who of our community that comes in to say, ?I?m willing to work with you, help you, and try to mentor you,?? Brown said.

She said graduates have later said they couldn?t have become involved with such people on their own, and that such introductions ?made a real difference in helping them to become more successful.?

?It connects you to the people who are really plugged in to the business scene in Louisville. You?re really connected with the movers and shakers,? said Todd Deetsch, who attended the course last fall. ?It?s a great resource.?

Deetsch, president of Psyche Comfort Products, has developed a memory-foam pillow shaped to let mask-wearing sleep apnea patients sleep on their side.

He was trying to build his company based on what he had learned through trial and error in other ventures until he heard of the FastTrac program and enrolled to get more systematic training.

The course took him through the process of launching a business, from developing a concept to satisfying investors? expectations, he said.

He also developed relationships with professionals who have continued to work with his company after the fall sessions ended.

?I think the Kauffman (program) is good because we each speak our own language. There?s the scientists speaking the language of science, and then there?s the businessmen speaking the language of business,? Deetsch said.

?I think Kauffman is kind of a bridge to connect us, so that we can understand each other. That?s what I thought was useful about the program.?

Wharton Executive Education Program to Help Business Leaders Identify Foreign Growth Opportunities - msnbc.com

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Aresty Institute of Executive Education at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania today announced a first-of-its-kind program, Leading in Foreign Markets. The executive education program has been developed to meet the needs of business leaders working in foreign countries and cultures. The week-long program, to be held in April on the Wharton School's Philadelphia campus, will address every aspect of leadership in an unfamiliar environment.

"Everyone recognizes that the world is flat," notes Wharton Marketing Professor Z. John Zhang. "But not everyone seems to notice that flat doesn't mean homogenous. There are remarkable differences in cultures, language, and behavioral norms that carry over into the business environment. Bringing your business onto foreign soil without this recognition can set you up for many surprises."

Leading in Foreign Markets will provide the knowledge and tools leaders need, including new perspectives on marketing, internal management issues, accounting, and finance. The program will help participants overcome cultural and language barriers, and navigate new regulations, marketing environments, incentive issues, and business acumen.

Zhang, who serves as the program's Faculty Co-Director, continues, "Wharton programs draw participants with substantial responsibilities from around the world, some of whom have had a 'honeymoon experience' in unfamiliar markets. They come with specific problems, looking for new perspectives and new ideas, and deep learning comes from the experience in the room."

Wharton Executive Education will prepare executives to expand their organizations into foreign markets to capitalize on some of today's most promising growth opportunities. Leading in Foreign Markets offers a unique opportunity to learn from world-class faculty and a network of global peers how to lead, manage, and motivate people in a different culture or country.

Leading in Foreign Markets is designed for country managers, managing directors, regional presidents, and those anticipating a move into one of these roles in the near future. The program will be held April 9-13, 2012 at the Steinberg Conference Center at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. For more information and an application, please visit:
