Aberdeen's energy businesses are invited to sign up for a free seminar exploring the potential of business opportunities in Iraq.

The Opportunity Iraq Seminar is the second in a series of seminars being delivered by Iraq market experts Upper Quartile as part of the council's International Trade and Investment team's support services.

Focusing on the Iraqi energy sector, the event is designed to inform companies how to identify and exploit potential business opportunities in Iraq. It has been tailored to meet company needs, based on feedback received at the first Opportunity Iraq Seminar which took place in November.

The next Opportunity Iraq seminar will be held in Marischal College on Friday, 27 January from 2pm until 5pm.

Presenters include representatives from: AAIB Insurance, which offers specialist insurance in high-risk markets; Blue Hackle, which offers security in Iraq and owns private villas in Basra; and FIAFI group which helps foreign companies set up in Iraq.

Companies attending the seminar will have the opportunity to discuss specific issues relating to their business with representatives of Upper Quartile and Aberdeen City Council.

Attendance at the seminar is free, but advance registration is required. To register email Siobhan Young at siobhan@upperquartile.co.uk or call Aberdeen City Council's International Trade and Investment Team on 01224 523109 or email International@aberdeencity.gov.uk.
