Elite Agents and Financial Professionals Gather for Industry-Leading Networking Conference Hosted By Creative Marketing - PRWeb

Leawood, Kan. (PRWEB) April 07, 2012

More than 50 of the country’s most successful agents and advisors joined host Creative Marketing for the sixth annual Tailor Made Networking Conference held in Miami, Fla. Attendees were able to enjoy the outdoors and maximize their opportunity for sharing ideas, information and success strategies with other high-caliber producers throughout the three-day event. Additionally, Creative Marketing’s home office personnel presented timely industry news and sales tips for helping these professionals continue to build their businesses and differentiate themselves from their competition.

Creative’s Tailor Made group welcomes elite-level life and annuity producers who meet a $5 million minimum of premium submitted annually. The Tailor Made services include one-on-one business consulting, strategic marketing and communications support, and a multitude of training opportunities and resources customized specifically for agents with an exceptional business track record. Each year, Creative brings these agents and advisors together to network and hear from their peers regarding strategies for generating referrals, developing more qualified leads and closing business more effectively.

“At each Tailor Made Networking Conference, we want to recognize our outstanding producers and provide extraordinary ways to thank them for their continued partnership with us,” said Creative Marketing’s Senior Vice President of Tailor Made Chip Anderson. “This year’s event in Miami was no exception. During two days of sharing innovative solutions for growing their practices, our guests were able to build relationships with colleagues who understand the challenges elite-level agents face in their day-to-day business.”

Event highlights included a keynote speech by innovative leader and corporate consultant Steve Harvill. He shared insights into the benefits of getting back to basics and keeping the sales process simple for agents and clients alike. Producers picked up tips from top agents, and then shared “one great idea” with one another that they could put to use immediately after the conference. Attendees also learned about specifics of newly offered agent programs available and how to prepare themselves and their business owner clients for business succession.

“All of the events were great, and the farewell party was incredible. I had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with some of the most successful agents and advisors in the business and learn how they do what they do. On my first day back in the office, I am already starting to implement suggestions and improve my own success. I can’t wait until the next Networking Conference,” said one Tailor Made attendee on the post-event survey.

Creative Marketing is known throughout the industry for its best-in-class agent incentive trips, in addition to providing unparalleled service and support. The Tailor Made Networking Conference is just one example of how Creative combines these qualities to afford producers with opportunities throughout the year to spend time learning from their peers.

“This year’s Networking Conference was packed full of information our agents can modify and implement for great results. We heard from many attendees that the Miami event was the best yet, and we intend to continue exceeding expectations in the years to come,” said Anderson.

Organization spurs networking opportunities - Virginia/North Carolina News

New Faces of Success (NFOS), an organization formed in January, is hoping to bring networking opportunities to the local area via workshops, networking events and business opportunity seminars. Tamica Williams, Lakisha Mitchell, Quinton Lambert and Chris Brown are all natives  of Brunswick County who now work and live in Mecklenburg.

They also own their own businesses outside of their regular jobs. Williams is part of an Inc. 500 home based business named 5LINX. Mitchell owns an event planning business called Royalti, Inc. Lambert is owner of We Are One, a community based nonprofit that addresses social issues. Brown is an artist with Music Makers Entertainment. The four say they not only hope to grow their own businesses through NFOS but also help other local businesses tap into markets they may not have considered yet.

Williams said the idea to form the networking organization was a group effort but the catalyst for forming was devised when Mitchell’s father lost his job of 30 plus years. “My father had worked for a company for 31 years,” said Mitchell, “and all of a sudden he was let go because of the economy. He quickly found himself trying to find a job in a new and constantly changing workforce. I realized there were other people in the same situation he now found himself in. So the idea of networking just came to me. After we all discussed the idea, we felt like a structured setting that would allow businesses to network with each other was something that was needed in this area.”

They want to provide events where businesses and non-business owners can meet, share ideas, get training for jobs and eventually provide businesses with potential employees. They also hope to provide services for people who may have a business idea but are not sure how to develop it.

They plan on holding their first networking event on April 28, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m, at the Comfort Zone in South Hill. There is a cost for attending and the event will be open to the general public as well. To sign up you can visit their website at http://nfosnetworkingevent.eventbrite.com/.

Small businesses can get government contracts

Can you imagine your small business providing that key product or service to the Navy, the Environmental Protection Agency or the Department of Agriculture?

We can. The federal government spends more than $500 billion a year in contracts, making it the largest purchaser of goods and services in the world. Small businesses throughout the country can and should take advantage of contracting opportunities so that they can grow, innovate and create jobs. At the Small Business Administration, we have a variety of resources to assist small firms in navigating government contracting.

Washington businessman Danny Farrow, founder and managing principal of Farrow Construction Specialties, took advantage of our government contracting programs. He began his path with SBA's 8(a) certification program and counseling services, and these avenues opened the door to several government contracting opportunities.

The American Jobs Act will put money back into the pockets of small business owners, and give them new tools to grow their businesses and create jobs. Over the long run, it will make investments in our nation's schools and infrastructure-creating more contracting opportunities for small businesses.

The American Jobs Act builds on the 17 tax cuts for small businesses that already have been signed into law. It will cut payroll taxes in half for 98 percent of businesses.

Social networking for career enrichment is on the rise. With online networking, you have access to more professionals -- and will inevitably make faster connections -- as your connections expand throughout your industry.

[More from Mashable: 8 Job Search Tips From the Co-Founder of LinkedIn]

Online networking also gives you the opportunity to put your personal brand on display -- a type of communication that may feel like bragging in face-to-face meetings. We’ve all heard of LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter and how to use these platforms to find a job, but it’s time to look beyond “the usual suspects.”

What other networking websites might be beneficial for your professional life? Here's a roundup of 20 unsung Internet resources that could help you land your dream job. Some are general and others pertain to certain industries, but all are valuable options to boost your social networking (and your career prospects).

[More from Mashable: Tumblr Fashion Editor Reveals the Secret to Gorgeous Content]

1. Elixio

Elixio is a private online community for professionals. This site is invite-only, but you can be sure if you get an invite, you will have the chance to make awesome connections. Because it's a community of less than 14,000 (mostly business) professionals, Elixio hosts networking opportunities for the cream of the crop.

2. Stroome

Stroome is the foremost online video collaboration hub. Launched in April 2010, the site connects journalists, filmmakers, travelers and anyone else with a video camera -- allowing them to upload their films to the Internet and then collaborate with other users to create new video, audio, and photo mashups from all corners of the world.

3. Ryze

Ryze is an online business network founded in 2001 and now operating with 80,000 members. You can make a free networking-oriented homepage and connect with professionals (or re-connect with old contacts). The site, which initially focused on the high-tech community, now appeals to CEOs, entrepreneurs and home-based businesses.

4. Ning

Ning's industry connections span many categories, including politics, entertainment, consumer brands, small business, non-profits, education and more. It connects more than 74 million people around the globe with the topics they are passionate about, making it a great foundation for professional networking. You can use Ning to create and design your own free social network. For instance, there’s a social community for the band Linkin Park, the Peace Corps and Classroom 2.0.

5. Quora

Quora connects you to everything you want to know about, and gives you leverage to interact with high influencers in any industry. You can create your own profile, share content and ask questions. Also, the site itself is organized by people and their interests, so you can easily find like-minded individuals. One way you can think of it is as a cache for research: When you see a link to a question page on Quora, you can feel good that it will have information you need.

6. Ecademy

Ecademy is a membership organization aimed at business professionals. The site boasts an online network, blog and boardrooms for collaboration over the Internet. It’s for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to belong to a community that connects, supports and collaborates with each other to produce new ideas. Those who want to take a more passive approach to networking, however, may find less use for it.

7. Ziggs

Ziggs is a site that will allow you to create and manage your personal brand. You can also join groups and make contacts on the network. Ziggs is for the Internet user who proactively wants to market himself on the web -- to be discovered by recruiters, to find a better job or just to be found. The platform is also for folks who want to develop or participate in private online communities with colleagues, friends, club members or charity teams.

8. Tweako

According to its website, Tweako is a “user-powered community website and social network, specializing in all aspects of computing, technology and the Internet.” Tweako.com is a place to learn and share information and knowledge about computer and technology topics. 9. Your Personal Blog

While a personal blog will be a networking opportunity on its own, you can use the blog to get your name out there. Post your blog’s URL when you comment on industry articles and share it with people on your networking profiles. You never know -- someone might like what they see on your blog and start up a conversation that could be beneficial to your career or job search. There are many options available for creating a blog, but you can create a free one easily on WordPress.

10. Tumblr

Tumblr has several advantages over other blogging options for building your brand. If you are a recent graduate or in the younger job-seeking demographic, you'll benefit from Tumblr's youthful user base. Plus, you'll find a breadth of business blogs that are hosted on the platform that can easily be followed, helping you stay knowledgeable about brands you might want to work for. However, while Tumblr will allow you to quickly and easily share your personal brand, the site doesn’t offer as many features or formatting options as other blogging platforms.

11. Brazen Careerist

This site was created for college students and young professionals to “meet new people, find a job and build relevant relationships” to advance their careers. Business fraternities draw more than 200 to networking mixer - State News

Three MSU business fraternities — Alpha Kappa Psi, Delta Sigma Pi and Phi Chi Theta — held their inaugural business networking mixer from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Union.

More than 40 representatives from companies including General Motors Co., IBM and Target were present for the event, which drew more than 200 people.

“One of the biggest goals for this evening is to really grab attention on campus,” accounting senior and fraternity consultant for Delta Sigma Pi Savina Mehta said. “We really want people to think of the business fraternities on campus when they’re recruiting.”

The evening was a first for the three fraternities, as they had never organized an event together in the past.

“This is a huge step for us,” Mehta said. “We’re hoping this will be the base for starting the very first Michigan State business fraternity career fair.”

Calvin Lai, the vice president of Alpha Kappa Psi and a marketing senior, said it was a great opportunity for them to learn to work together.

“Based on the outcome of this event, it will determine if we should expand the mixer to all business students in the Broad College next year,” he said.

Although companies were not recruiting Tuesday, the event provided students and representatives alike the chance to network.

“It’s just as much about us as it is about them,” said Luke Vanzo, a partner of finance firm New York Life who attended the event. “For me it’s about billboarding for our companies so when (the students) go off and see a post or a job description, and they recognize my face with the name New York Life, they’ll think, ‘That’s someone I want to have an interview with.’”

Lai said the purpose of the mixer was to create an opportunity for fraternity members to meet businesses not only for internships and full-time job opportunities, but for valuable advice regarding career paths.

Another important aspect of the meeting was to allow networking among the business students themselves.

“I think it’s really good to just network with each other because we all go to Michigan State,” human resource management senior Colleen Grattan said.

Grattan, who has been a part of Phi Chi Theta for four years, said she already has a job but came out to the event to mingle with fellow Spartans.

“Hopefully we can continue this and work together,” Grattan said. “We’re all going to be out in the real world, and you can lean on people from Michigan State, especially if they’re involved in these programs.”
