MORE THAN US$1 BLN BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AWAIT BUMIPUTERA ENTREPRENEURS AT GOPIO 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, April 18 (Bernama) -- Bumiputera entrepreneurs and businessmen

are being urged to grab the more than US$1 billion (RM3 billion) in business

opportunities to be announced at the Global Organisation of People of Indian

Orgin 2012 (GOPIO 2012)Convention.

The three-day convention, starting April 20, at the Crystal Crown Hotel in

Petaling Jaya, will be officiated by the Minister of International Trade and

Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

The business opportunities will cut across various sectors with the

GOPIO 2012 bringing together delegates from more than 20 countries.

The theme for this year''s convention is, "Friends in the Nation''s

Development", and mirrors the spirit of entrepreneurship among the GOPIO

members.

GOPIO 2012 chairman, Datuk Dr V Shanmuganathan, said in a statement today

that Bumiputera entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate in the event as they

can become part of the business opportunities to be announced for the first time

through GOPIO.

He said the among the business opportunities are those in the natural

resources sector, logistics, petroleum, rare earth and free ports.

The convention will also have a special session by entrepreneurs and

government officers from various countries on the new economic trend while

highlighting those sectors which Malaysian entrepreneurs can venture into on the

global stage.

Among the topics at this session are, Investment Opportunities in India''s

New Economy, Opportunities for Technology Entrepreneurs, Investment

Opportunities in the Mauritius Fress Port Sector, Business Opportunities in

South Africa and Sri Lanka and E-Commerce for the Global Entrepreneur.

The convention has the support of the Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of

Commerce, The SMI Association Malaysia, the KL & Selangor Indian Chamber of

Commerce, The Indian Businessmen''s Association of Malaysia and the Malaysia
