Envoy explores business opportunities

SIBU: The Consul-General of the Republic Of Indonesia, Djoko Harjanto, yesterday visited WTK Group director, Pemanca Datuk Wong Kie Yik.

Djoko said the courtesy call was to explore business opportunities between Sibu and Indonesia.

He also visited Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee and Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King.

Since his appointment as the consul-general three months ago, Djoko has been moving in the state to make new acquaintances in the hope of enhancing business opportunities between the state and Indonesia.

He said the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching would hold a programme called ‘Identifying Opportunities in the Indonesian Market’ on June 5 at RH Hotel here.

“There are many business opportunities in Indonesia.

We are rich in natural resources, manpower and we are also a member of G-20,” he said.

Djoko said he would be going places in the state to look into matters of Indonesian workers working in Sarawak.

“There are about 236,000 Indonesian workers in the state and about three million in country,” he said.
