"Russian Cement Industry Outlook: Business Opportunities and Future Growth Potential to 2016" - New Market Report - SBWire

Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/17/2012 -- The Russian cement market follows the trend of the country's construction market, during both the review and forecast periods. The cement market recorded a significant reduction in production and demand when the global financial crisis hit the Russian economy from late 2008 onwards. Many impending construction projects were suspended, and the cement market was adversely affected. The cement industry in Russia grew at a CAGR of 6.70% during the review period. During the review period, the cement clinker category was the largest cement type and accounted for 34.5% of the total cement industry. The growth is primarily attributed to the government's spending on infrastructure and the growing residential and commercial construction market. Wet cement manufacturing is the dominant production process for cement in Russia. Most plants in Russia are dated and in need of modernization, and the wet process also involves substantial energy input. Most new companies setting up plants in Russia are therefore opting for dry process plants. The Russian cement market comprises more than 50 cement manufacturers. The largest companies in the industry include JSC Eurocement Group, Sibirsky Cement, Lafarge, Alpha-Cement (a subsidiary of Holcim), Novorosstcement and the Park Group.

Summary

China is the largest cement market in the world, producing and consuming more than half of the cement produced globally. The industry is hugely fragmented, with approximately 3,000 small, medium-sized and large enterprises. The top ten producers account for less than 25% of the market share, and consist of both global and domestic firms. The Chinese Government invested US$500 billion in infrastructure during its 11th five-year plan, and plans to invest US$1 trillion during the 12th five-year plan. The large-scale investment in various spheres of infrastructure, including roads, railways, bridges and ports, is expected to drive the demand for cement over the forecast period. The Chinese cement industry is expected to consolidate over the forecast period, with large domestic and foreign companies acquiring small and medium-sized firms. Stringent emissions standards are likely to lead to the closure or acquisition of smaller plants. The Chinese cement industry, being a highly energy-intensive industry, is focusing strongly on alternative sources of energy and sustainable practices. This has led to partnerships with global cement equipment manufacturing plants, leading to more innovation in energy-efficient and sustainable technology.

Future Flow Cytometry Market Outlook: US, Europe, Japan--Emerging Opportunities and Business Expansion Strategies

NEW YORK, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue:

Future Flow Cytometry Market Outlook: US, Europe, Japan--Emerging Opportunities and Business Expansion Strategies

http://www.reportlinker.com/p0777597/Future-Flow-Cytometry-Market-Outlook-US-Europe-Japan--Emerging-Opportunities-and-Business-Expansion-Strategies.html#utm_source=prnewswire&utm_medium=pr&utm_campaign=In_Vitro_Diagnostic

Complete report $18,500. DataPack (test volumes, sales forecasts, supplier shares) $7,400.

This 7-country report will help current suppliers and potential market entrants identify and evaluate emerging opportunities in the flow cytometry markets during the next five years. The report explores future marketing and technological trends in seven countries; provides market share estimates, test volume forecasts, and instrument placements; compares features of major clinical and research flow cytometers; profiles competitors and emerging market entrants; and suggests specific product and marketing opportunities for flow cytometry instruments and reagents.

Rationale

During the next five years, continued advances in molecular diagnostics, monoclonal antibodies, lasers and IT, as well as growing understanding of immunologic forces regulating systemic diseases, will have a profound impact on the flow cytometry markets worldwide. New molecular diagnostic and monoclonal antibody tests will facilitate existing procedures and provide basis for sensitive, specific and simple assays. The introduction of smaller and easy-to-operate laser systems will further expand applications of flow cytometry to routine clinical laboratories. Further advances in IT will reduce the cost of instrument manufacture, service warranty, and permit development of self-troubleshooting, autocalibration and other advanced features. Presently tedious analyses of chromosomal abnormalities, DNA content, and lymphocyte subsets will become more automated and routine.

Plant and Food cutbacks risk future business opportunities

Tuesday, 6 March 2012, 12:23 pm
Press Release: Public Service Association

6 March, 2012

Plant and Food cutbacks risk future business opportunities

As more public scientists are sent packing the union that represents them says the Government’s funding model is stifling innovation.

“The Government keeps looking to industry to fork up more for research, but New Zealand has one of the worst records in the OECD for industry-backed research, so as soon as the hard times hit, our public scientists are shown the door,” says Public Service Association National Secretary Richard Wagstaff.

The comments follow news that up to 25 scientists at Plant and Food Research could lose their jobs. Nearly half of the institute’s $113 million income comes from commercial contracts and royalties, but a difficult economic climate that has seen industry funds cut back.

“It’s a perennial problem getting industry to pay its fair share for research in this country. AgResearch lost 36 scientists and had to shut down most of the country’s remaining wool research because neither farmers nor the Government were willing to pay for the work.

“Research that supports our primary industries is too important to leave to the vagaries of the market. Once these experts are sent packing they’ll look for opportunities overseas and be lost to New Zealand science for ever.

“You can’t always predict your future research needs and cutting back capacity now could mean paying a heavy price in some areas later.

“Plant and Food Research has been doing tremendous work in response to the kiwifruit vine disease Psa.

“Efforts have been put into identifying good management strategies and developing new cultivars that might have resistance to the disease. If these researchers had been thrown on the scrapheap two years ago the industry’s future could have looked a whole lot bleaker right now.

“Innovation in this same area led to the creation of the golden kiwi which brought a new lease of life to the New Zealand industry at a time when it was suffering fierce competition from other markets around the world.

“Sacking scientists means these literally golden discoveries may remain lost business opportunities,” says Richard Wagstaff.

The Future of Franchise Business Opportunities Examined at Franchise Expo South on Miami Beach

Members of the International Franchise Association welcomed thousands of attendees to the Miami Beach Convention Center for Franchise Expo South.

In 2011, gourmet burgers, cupcakes and frozen yogurt topped the list of popular franchise trends. To start the New Year, The Sixth Annual Franchise Expo South returned to South Florida on January 20-22, 2012 where visitors were offered a unique opportunity to see what the future of franchising holds. From the basics of buying a franchise to launching a brand internationally, the show addressed today’s hot topics and brought in thousands of entrepreneurs, current franchise owners, and veterans interested in owning their own franchise business. Sponsored by the International Franchise Association, the Expo was held at the Miami Beach Convention Center and featured educational seminars and conferences, several of which had been approved for Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) accreditation, in addition to the franchisor exhibits on the tradeshow floor.

“Franchising is very important to South Florida’s economy, as it creates business opportunities for entrepreneurs and more local jobs, especially for the thousands of American troops who will be re-entering the workforce next year,” said Tom Portesy, president of MFV Expositions, producers of Franchise Expo South. “In fact, more than 825,000 franchises support 18 million U.S. jobs and contribute $2.1 trillion to our nation’s economy, proving that franchising has a significant impact.”

After three years of restrained growth, due to the recession and its lingering effects, franchise businesses show signs of recovery in 2012, with establishment growth forecast at 1.9 percent, according to a new report by IHS Global Insight for the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation. The Franchise Business Economic Outlook: 2012 forecasted modest growth in the number of establishments in each of the 10 business lines in the report, including automotive, business services, commercial & residential services, lodging, personal services, quick service restaurants, real estate, retail food, retail products & services and table/full service restaurants.

Franchise Expo South was an opportunity for prospective franchisees to discover which types of businesses matched their needs. The tradeshow allowed potential candidates to do their research in person with franchisors to ensure their potential investment was an ideal match. The expo floor featured hundreds of exhibitors from food to professional service franchises including Hardee’s, The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., Baskin-Robbins, EmbroidMe, Lucille Roberts, Red Mango, Sign-a-Rama, and Wireless Zone, along with thousands of attendees.

“Franchise Expo South offered the chance for franchise businesses to differentiate themselves from the rest of the competition as they connected with potential new small business owners across South Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Portesy. “We welcomed members of the community to explore the many different franchise opportunities available to them so that they could learn about the benefits of owning a franchise business at the Franchise Expo South.”
