The public is invited to a Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) workshop at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, hosted by the Southwest Veterans business Resource Center at 227 N. “D” Street in Perris.

Thr program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal opportunities.

The free event will feature guest speakers, Gloria Gomez, business opportunity specialist with the Small Business Association, Santa Ana District and Michael McDermott, redevelopment and economic development manager, city of Perris.

The workshop includes a hands-on demonstration of SBA’s HUBZone website and maps; what, how and when to submit for certification and a question-and-answer session.
