SINGAPORE - Minister-of-State (MOS) for Trade and Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan will be leading a business delegation to Tianjin and Beijing from March 25 to 29.
The purpose of the mission is to increase the understanding among Singapore companies of the business opportunities in Tianjin and in priority projects such as the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city.
Mr Lee will be visiting Tianjin Eco-city on March 26, where he will be updated on its progress.
He will also witness the groundbreaking ceremony of the Low-Carbon Living Laboratory and call on Tianjin Mayor Huang Xingguo and Tianjin Binhai New Area Party Secretary He Lifeng in Tianjin.
In Beijing, Mr Lee will call on Chinese Vice-Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development Qiu Baoxing.
He will also deliver a speech at the opening ceremony of the International Green and Energy-efficient Building Conference on March 29.
Mr Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Ministries of National Development, Trade & Industry and Foreign Affairs, International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore) and the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
The agreement for Singapore and China to jointly develop Tianjin Eco-city, signed in November 2007, is the second flagship Government-to-Government project between Singapore and China after Suzhou Industrial Park.
Its vision is to become a socially harmonious, environmentally-friendly and resource-efficient city as a model for sustainable development.
It will have around 350,000 residents when completed around 2020.
