PUTRAJAYA: Kazakhstan has invited Malaysian investors and businessmen to spread their wings to the country.

Kazakhstan president Nursultan Nazarbayev said there were still vast business opportunities in his country waiting to be tapped.

"We are developing between 200 and 300 new industrial facilities. They cover all areas including oil and gas, construction and financial services.

"All these offer good opportunities for Malaysian businessmen and we welcome them," he said in a joint statement with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Perdana Putra on Wednesday.

Nazarbayev and Najib earlier had a bilateral meeting where both leaders discussed a wide range of topics including boosting trade between the two nations.

Nazarbayev arrived Tuesday night for a two-day visit to Malaysia, his third in 16 years.

He was accorded a state welcome at Parliament Square here.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and the Prime Minister received Nazarbayev.

The national anthems of both countries were played by the Royal Malay Regiment band followed by the firing of a 14-gun salute.

Nazarbayev and delegation were then introduced to Cabinet ministers and members of foreign diplomatic service attending the event, reported Bernama.

CBS Corporation President and CEO Leslie Moonves to Discuss Opportunities for Radio at 2012 Radio Show

WASHINGTON & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Organizers of the Radio Show, jointly produced by the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), announced today that CBS Corporation President and CEO Leslie Moonves will participate in a question-and-answer session with NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith on Wednesday, September 19, following opening remarks by Smith and RAB President and CEO Erica Farber. The Radio Show will be held September 19-21 in Dallas.

Moonves is president and chief executive officer of CBS Corporation, one of the world's largest media enterprises. In this role, he oversees all operations of the company, including CBS Radio, the CBS Television Network, The CW (a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment), CBS Television Stations, CBS Television Studios, CBS Studios International, CBS Television Distribution, Showtime Networks, CBS Sports Network, CBS Outdoor, Simon & Schuster, CBS Interactive, CBS Consumer Products, CBS Home Entertainment, CBS Films and EcoMedia.

Moonves and Smith will discuss the changing media landscape and what is on the horizon for radio, including trends in business development, programming and advertising, innovations in technology and new opportunities for revenue and growth.

CBS Radio draws nearly 70 million unique over-the-air listeners each week. Its 130 stations in 28 markets cover news, sports, talk, rock, country, Top 40, classic hits and urban formats, among others. Popular talent includes Carson Daly, Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, Mike Francesa, Ryan Cameron, and Kevin and Bean. Additionally, CBS Radio broadcasts play-by-play coverage of many of the country's top sports franchises, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Chicago White Sox, New England Patriots, New York Giants and Detroit Red Wings.

CBS Local Digital Media, operating within CBS Radio, offers a truly "local" experience through the convergence of new and traditional media platforms. Websites and mobile applications available in more than two dozen markets provide the latest news, traffic, weather and sports headlines, a question and answer service, daily CBS Local Offers, Best of Guides and business directories.

Moonves came to CBS in 1995 as president of entertainment, after serving as president of Warner Bros. Television. He was promoted to president and CEO of CBS Television in 1998, and became its chairman in 2003. He was later named co-president and co-chief operating officer of Viacom and chairman of CBS in 2004, overseeing domestic and international broadcast television operations, its radio division and outdoor advertising operations.

In 2006, when Viacom split its businesses into two publicly traded companies, Moonves was named president and CEO of the newly formed CBS Corporation, which has become one of the largest and best performing companies in media, with businesses in virtually every sector. Its broadcast network, the CBS Television Network, has been #1 in viewers for nine of the past 10 years, with television's #1 drama, NCIS; the #1 comedy, THE BIG BANG THEORY; the #1 new series, PERSON OF INTEREST; the #1 news program, 60 MINUTES; and time-leading shows on virtually every night of the week.

CBS's other divisions have also been robust under Moonves' leadership. The company's push to sell its shows around the world has made international syndication sales a significant revenue source for the company, with its programs now airing in more than 100 countries and growing. By distinguishing CBS as a producer and seller of world-class content across all mediums, Moonves has helped CBS Corporation grow in value, revenue and market-share while identifying and developing key new revenue streams for future growth.

Moonves also led the company's 2010 purchase of EcoMedia, a company that improves local communities and their environments by pairing businesses with municipalities. The acquisition of EcoMedia continues the company's long-standing tradition of public service, a mandate that began when the CBS Television Network first signed on in 1928.

Moonves serves on the Board of Trustees of the Entertainment Industries Council. He is also a trustee of the National Council for Families and Television and of the American Film Institute, and is past president of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society. He is co-chair of the Los Angeles Board of Governors of the Paley Center for Media. In March 2003, Moonves was honored by the International Radio and Television Society as the recipient of the Gold Medal Award, one of most prestigious honors in media and entertainment.

President of Ghana Joins BCIU and Business Leaders in New York to Discuss Investment Opportunities

To: BUSINESS, FOREIGN AND NATIONAL EDITORS

April 25 forum allows business community to explore opportunities in Ghana with leader of one of world's fastest growing economies; trade mission to Ghana planned

NEW YORK, May 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), a White House initiative founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower for senior business executives to interact with heads of state/government, cabinet ministers and senior government officials, today announced the successful completion of a forum in New York City with His Excellency John Evans Atta Mills, President of The Republic of Ghana, and 25 business leaders from across the world. Sponsored by United States Pharmacopeia and Eni S.p.A., the BCIU forum provided a platform for President Mills to outline the strategic opportunities for investment in Ghana while also addressing the fundamental economic pillars fueling Ghana's fast growing economy. Business participants similarly outlined strategic opportunities for their companies and industries, while also engaging in a dialogue with the President on investment opportunities.

"We as a government are committed to creating the necessary environment to ensure that investors have good returns on their investments," said President Mills at the forum. "Now that Ghana's economy has been described as the fastest growing economy in the world, and at a time oil has been struck, let me be quick to say that it is our determination to ensure that this God-given resource becomes a blessing and not a curse. We want to make sure that you have a credible judicial system, you have the kind of labor which will respond to the needs of the business, that you have a system which will respond to the very needs of investors."

President Mills affirmed Ghana's commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and respect for the judicial system, outlining their significance in fostering economic growth, return on investment and job creation.

"We appreciated the President's unscripted fluency on economic priorities for Ghana and his comfort level in speaking directly and frankly with our members and international investors," said Peter Tichansky, President and CEO of BCIU. "The interest in accessing Ghanaian market across major industries - and Africa through the Ghanaian gateway - were consistent themes expressed by businesses attending the forum."

As a result of this and a previous visit by the President with the business community in New York, BCIU today announced it is organizing a trade mission to Ghana later in the year with member companies interested in further exploration of opportunities.

"As one of the largest investors in the Ghanaian oil industry from exploration to production, midstream, and power, we were thrilled to support this outstanding forum with President of Ghana," said Enzo Viscusi, Group Senior Vice President and Representative for the Americas, Eni.S.p.A. "Ghana's commitment to democracy, rule of law and sound investment protection principles has made our experience in the country very rewarding and is one we look to build upon without reservation. President Mills' administration has shown tremendous discipline and leadership, which bodes well not only for Ghana but also for the entire continent."

"While the expansion of the oil and other major industrial industries in Ghana is clearly a major priority, we are very pleased that this administration is also focused on ensuring a thriving healthcare and pharmaceutical industry," said Brian Hendrix, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP). "As a result of this commitment and the stability and economic viability of Ghana, we have announced plans to create the USP-Sub-Saharan Africa Center for Pharmaceutical Advancement and Training (CePAT) in Accra to serve sub-Sahara Africa as an integrated platform for training, education, consulting and laboratory capabilities. From Accra, we will offer a systematic approach to the quality control of medicines in sub-Saharan Africa."

"We believe Ghana offers terrific opportunities for growth and business development," said Ed DiSanto, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, American Tower. "As such, in December 2010 we entered into a joint venture with Africa's largest mobile operator, MTN Group Limited (MTN) and launched our operations in Ghana. TowerCo Ghana currently owns and operates nearly 1,900 wireless communication tower sites and plans to develop several hundred new towers over the next several years. We are pleased with the performance of our investment, and our team of 84 Ghanaians, and indirectly hundreds of others via our vendor relationships, are doing a great job."

"Not only are international firms interested in Ghana, but Ghanaian entrepreneurs are also investing heavily," said Humphrey Ayim - Darke, Chairman, Greater Accra Chapter, Association of Ghana Industries. "We are rapidly building our own companies, expertise and resources to serve our fast growing markets and taking advantage of our well-educated, hard working and expanding middle class. We were delighted to participate in this strategic dialogue with international investors and are eager to make it clear that U.S. companies can find outstanding local partners in Ghana."

"The Ghanaian agriculture sector, while not as high profile as oil, is nonetheless one of the most promising in the world thanks to President Mills' and past administrations' policies," said Steven Wallace, Founder and President, The Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company. "To this day, European and American chocolatiers buy cocoa beans from Ghana and export them to their chocolate factories throughout the world where the famed Ghanaian beans are transformed into some of the world's most delicious and expensive chocolate. Now, for the first time, The Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company, which is headquartered in the U.S., is producing world class chocolate entirely in Ghana and uniquely preserving all the best attributes of the finest cocoa beans in the world."

Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management To Host China’s Vice President Xi Jinping Business Delegation - Business Wire

Program at West LA Campus Focuses on Trade Relations between the U.S. and China

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management and ChinaMart® Los Angeles will host a seminar on US-China trade relations and shared economic interests on February 16, 2012, for members of a business delegation from the People’s Republic of China and U.S. business officials as part of Vice President Xi Jinping’s visit to Los Angeles. Positioned as China’s next president, Vice President Xi Jinping is traveling to the U.S. at the invitation of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, accompanied by the business delegation, in an effort to help enhance diplomatic ties and develop business and professional relationships in the Southern California area.

“This visit is an important part of setting the tone for relations between China and the U.S. over the next decade – one that promotes ongoing trade and future growth opportunities.”

The seminar event on February 16th will begin with a business mixer and match-making session in the morning to promote U.S. exports and imports at ChinaMart® Los Angeles, a one-stop portal providing support for Chinese manufacturers to successfully market in the U.S. The second portion of the seminar event will be held at Pepperdine University’s West Los Angeles campus with a keynote address by Terry Young, Ph.D., a professor of economics and chair of the Economics and Law Department at the Graziadio School of Business and Management.

“Dr. Young has more than 25 years of business experience in Asia and the United States and has extensive knowledge of the global marketplace, with a primary emphasis on Asia,” said Dean Linda A. Livingstone. “The jinmì liánxì between China and the United States is one of the world's most important international relationships and we are honored to host Vice President Xi Jinping’s delegation at the Graziadio School in the hope that our discussion and interaction will increase business opportunities and cooperation between our two countries.”

According to a report Growing Together: China and Los Angeles County prepared by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC), “the futures of China and Los Angeles County are very bright. Both locations possess the resources and tools necessary to reap the benefits of increased globalization. China and Los Angeles County will continue to play vital roles in the California economy and for that matter in the U.S. and global economies.”

Adds Pepperdine’s Dr. Terry Young, “US-China tensions are likely to increase given both countries will defend their own interests. However, it’s essential for U.S. and China to work together for global stability and world peace.”

“We look forward to welcoming Vice President Xi Jinping’s business delegation and working with them to increase financial and business cooperation between China and the United States,” says Stephen Perl, CEO of ChinaMart Los Angeles® and PMF Bancorp. “This visit is an important part of setting the tone for relations between China and the U.S. over the next decade – one that promotes ongoing trade and future growth opportunities.”

According to the LAEDC report “U.S.-China trade has increased dramatically over the past thirty years jumping from $4.8 billion to $366 billion. Los Angeles County has established very close economic ties with China. The Los Angeles Customs District (LACD) handles about 40% of total U.S, trade with China. Indeed, the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach together handle almost 36% of total trade between China and the U.S.”

“The events at ChinaMart® Los Angeles and Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Business and Management are important to supporting international trade and increasing business opportunities between China and the U.S.,” said Vance Baugham, President of the World Trade Center Association Los Angeles – Long Beach. “Increasing awareness and marketing Southern California to Chinese companies will help spur investment in the region, creating jobs and economic activity.”

Sponsors of the event include: Pepperdine’s University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management, ChinaMart® Los Angeles, 1st PMF Bancorp™, the World Trade Center Association Los Angeles – Long Beach, Los Angeles World Airports, ASD Las Vegas Trade Show, JP Communications, Inc. and Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP.
