New Business Opportunities For Regional and Remote Communities Revealed As National Broadband Network Rolls Out

Noosa Heads, Queensland (PRWEB) December 29, 2011

As the Australian government fulfills its commitment to a National Broadband Network, a growing number of previously isolated communities are being given the opportunity to access fast broadband. Through a new online hub, Online Business For Regional Australia (obra.com.au), internet marketer and writer, Kerry Finch, is identifying viable business models, critically assessing and reviewing training programs, and reporting on NBN rollout news.

“Having fast and reliable internet access will change the lives of people living in remote, rural and regional Australia” explained Ms Finch. “The online business and education opportunities are immense, and the flow on from these has a whole raft of social implications.”

National Broadband Network For Regional Australia

A joint Media Release issued on 18 October 2011, by the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard and Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Stephen Conroy, stated “The NBN will be a massive boost for the Australian economy, opening up previously inaccessible national and global markets.”

It continued “Importantly, the NBN will allow local communities to thrive as businesses grow without the need to move to major metropolitan cities. This will mean jobs growth in regional Australia, and mean more people will be able to be employed locally.”

Australians located outside of the country’s major cities comprise both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, living in remote, rural and, increasingly, mining communities. These have traditionally had limited opportunities for educational advancement and home-based business establishment and growth.

“Women in particular have been reluctant to remain in such environments because of the limited opportunities for work and social interaction. The NBN will make it easier for them to establish online businesses and harness the power of the internet to expand current businesses” said Ms Finch.

Online Business Opportunities Continue To Grow

Ms Finch identified several business opportunities for people in regional and remote areas of Australia, including:

“There are so many business models, and most people online choose one or two upon which to focus” explained Kerry. “But the obra.com.au site also warns against the ‘get rich quick’ schemes online; just as there are golden opportunities for establishing legitimate businesses, there are also people looking to take advantage of newcomers.”

Through the obra.com.au site, Ms Finch and her guest contributors will include reviews of tools, and recommendations for training and products from niche experts who have demonstrated their professionalism, legitimacy and commitment to quality.
